Daily School Procedures

Semester Exam Policy

According to Harrison County Policy 4103.3.5

 Attendance Rewards for Elementary, Middle, and, High School Semester Exams/ Assessments:

  1. Semester exams/assessments are required to be taken in all classes each semester; however, exemptions can be obtained through daily attendance.

  2. Mandatory semester exams/assessments are based on attendance for each semester. Final exam/assessment requirements reset at the start of each new semester. See information below.

 Students must take final exams/assessments IF:

  1.  They have more than 5 excused or 1 or more unexcused absences per class per semester.

 Important Attendance Facts to Remember:

  • i.  WVEIS Record will be used to calculate unexcused absences.

  • ii.  Second Chance Class (SC) is considered an exemption because the student is present in the building.

  • iii.   School Approved Absences will be considered an exemption.

  • iv.  Out of School Suspension (OSS) is considered unexcused and the absence will count toward finals.

 The principal will be able to exercise discretion for individual extenuating circumstances. Administration will notify teachers of any exemptions.
