Over the past week five members of the South Harrison FFA have travelled across the country to participate and compete in two of the Nation’s most prestigious Livestock Judging Camps: Virginia Tech’s Judge Like a Champion camp and competition held at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg, Virginia and The Ferguson College of Agriculture’s Livestock Judging Camp at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
In Virginia, Spencer Nolan and Emma Hitt both earned high honors in sheep and goat evaluation placing 10th and 9th respectively, with Nolan tying for 10th place overall. Nolan was also awarded the Spirit of Camp award given to one attendee for hard work and improvement.
Later in the week members traveled to Oklahoma State’s Campus for a rigorous three-day course instructed by members of the 2022 National Collegiate Livestock Champion Judging Team and Coach, Dr. Parker Henley. Hope Woods was awarded a scholarship and honors. Other members in attendance were: Spencer Nolan, Emma Hitt, and Ashley Martin.
